Yaquina (say Ya-kwinna) used to be known as the Cape Foulweather light. Never mind that Cape Foulweather is the next cape northward. The Bureau of Land Management takes its oversight responsibilities very seriously, which has resulted in tidepools that are better populated than some others in the region. Docents monitor the beach activity carefully, teaching visitors how to safely handle the sealife.
