Between the Ruby Mountains and the Humboldt Range in Elko County, Nevada stretches the Ruby Valley, home to the beleaguered Western Shoshone people, pitted against rapacious gold mining companies. We got there via Secret Pass on the north end, and were let out onto Highway 93 between Wells and Ely.
