Coursing out of Columbine Lake, < https://mapcarta.com/23223202 > Mill Creek crashes down its steep canyon
away from several high-elevation silver mines in the San Juan National Forest, reached by an enticing gravel road
from the highway through Red Mountain Pass northwest of Silverton, Colorado. We saw the road, turned up it, and were thwarted
by loose, blocky gravel 2/3 of the way up. Randy had to back the VW to the start and walk back up, but he clambered
farther up the creek than I, as I was content to sit on a boulder in the creek and be mesmerized by the water.
