It's one of those places where you feel compelled to leave an extra donation, as I did, because they have done such a stellar job of presenting what they do, which is informing people of what the Chihuahuan Desert of North America has going for it. They do this with a fine indoor display gallery, a large botanical garden organized into ecological habitat areas, and a small zoological garden where we saw native animals of the desert. Oh, sure, some of the plants were apparently on vacation from the area of their informative signs, but the pictures gave us clues as to what to look for in other places as we continued our travels. And, they were open on Thanksgiving Day--and we were grateful.
