In one of the trees, a nest-sitting great-horned owl watched the evening take shape, accompanied, no doubt, by youngsters. Sadly, the situation was for us rather as it was for the Little Prince, for whom the aviator drew a box, saying, "the sheep you want is inside." [I read it in French several decades ago, so the details may have become blurred; sorry]. This was taken during an owl expedition, but we could only guess at whether or not owlets were there.
