Walking up the road that crosses our driveway, we see Buffalo Peaks in the distance.
~March 24 -- Some of these didn't get leveled either; I was paying attention to the fallen tree's roots instead, and didn't see beyond them.
April 4 -- Looked out the window to see 11 Rocky Mountain Elk traipsing through our back meadow...first time we've seen them
on our property in our 5 years here. Photos through the den window got some of them.
April 10 - May 12 -- 3 days' travel through Utah and Nevada to northern California, some weeks working there, and 5 days coming back.
June 7 -- Trip over Independence Pass (no photos) to Snowmass Village for a memorial service; two photos from the path outside Snowmass Chapel.
June 10, July 2 -- Our first and second trips together this year to go clean up campsites and shooters' detritus.
July 14 -- Coming home from recycling in the next county, we paused on a neighborhood road
to let a hesitant young Dusky Grouse figure out where it was going to go next.
August 5 -- Cleaning a forest campsite, I came upon a fine addition to my "Roots and Trunks" gallery.
August 8 -- A return to Weston Pass at the edges of Park and Lake Counties, where I found a mine-assay pit to sit in
for a while to get somewhat out of the wind while family trekked up South Peak.
August 20 -- A stunning (and thunderous) sunset from our driveway
August 28 -- A gentle splash of sunset color...most of it subsided while I went to get my phone.
September 2 -- Out in the San Isabel Forest again to search for and remove shooters' debris
and clean campsites after Labor Day weekend.
September 8 -- Looking across the pastures from our backyard trail.
September 12 -- After many (for us) rainy days, we began to see little boletes along our driveway.
September 15 -- Always remember to look up, too!
September 16 -- Another day at the forest's edge, picking up brass and clay and plastic after we heard
shooting during the weekend. Bonuses: More mushrooms! And magnificent sky!
September 22 -- A weather change on this first day of autumn brought us more glorious clouds
and rain AND a mushroom. And, it turned out, some snow on our Buffalo Peaks.
September 23 -- Out on the trail in our meadow, catching more clouds and a new mushroom,
plus that snow on the mountain. We're sad that our phones don't capture the reds we see in the aspens.
September 29 -- Stopped both going to town and coming back home to snap a few glimpses
of our stellar view of aspens just up the hill from our house.
September 30 - October 30 -- An eastern U.S. odyssey, touching 3 friends, 16 relatives, 14 states,
and 3 time zones, all with the intent of bringing back photos from enough national parks (we touched
12 of them!) to achieve my current goal of 80 by age 80.
Who wishes to suggest a new goal?
December 27 -- Walked with relatives in Sand Creek Park in Aurora, Colorado, finding images along Sand Creek and Tollgate Creek.
Sad to say, I've lost the one most interesting to me, the informative sign about the solitary bee nesting facility there
(out of 21,000 bee species, only 7 are colony nesters).
