Seal Rock State Park, Waldport, Lincoln Co. Oregon
I know, it's a terrible photo, but I'm keeping it to remind us of the interaction between the youngster on the right (I'm guessing a bird hatched this year) and the adult on the left (I'm guessing a parent). The kid bounced over to the adult and whimpered, repeatedly, as piteously as possible, and got no response. We could just see the adult thinking, 'Get over it; you're big enough to forage by yourself!' and otherwise ignoring it. That was all.
