In 108-degree heat the day before, in a car with no cooling, I changed my mind about visiting Mineral King via the winding, narrow, roller-coaster road built in 1873, deciding that the long view, if I should be given the opportunity, would have to suffice. So on my way out of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, I was delighted to find an overlook with a sign that said Mineral King was in this direction. Whether this is it, I can't say.
