This juniper trunk was monumental, even from a distance. Long ago, someone had hacked away all its branches,
leaving a torsoesque pillar at the brink of a sunken lava tube. I liked how the growing wood had "melted" over and around
corners where, probably long before this final injustice, earlier wood had been bared.
