High Creek Fen

A Nature Conservancy Preserve within a half hour of our home that ranks with the top two or three in the country, being "extremely rich" in species diversity. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, "The wetland community at High Creek Fen is a relict of the much colder and wetter conditions that prevailed in South Park during the last ice age." The Park County Colorado Natural Heritage Program has sponsored trips to this unique ecosystem; we hope they may still do that in our changed world. The first 31 images are from mid-October; we hope to come again.
