Kindly friends treated me to a stay here at Elk Lake Camp, just north of Red Rock National Wildlife Refuge. Even though it was damp with morning dew and afternoon rain showers, we encountered no mosquitoes there...I suspect because there were so many nesting birds patrolling the air and lawn: swallows, bluebirds, robins, wrens, and warblers all did their part. And the people-food was delightful, too, in the lodge dining-hall. Now (3 years later), I hear it has been converted to a resort. Pity.
