Within sight of some of the tall, lighted buildings in Las Vegas, Nevada, Desert NWR was a pleasant surprise for us, and the level spot just outside the entry gate made for splendid, quiet sleep. We walked a trail or two in the evening light, with a phainopepla talking near Corn Creek.
