Being 1,100 miles long and extending 12 miles out into the Pacific Ocean, the California Coastal National Monument is huge--and well worth the effort put out by the Bureau of Land Management to keep it looking good. After resting overnight above Bean Hollow, we visited two of five official "gateways," the first being at Pigeon Point, a stop that included a visit to the lighthouse there; the second was at Point Arena, where another lighthouse stands.
