We had heard this place was a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and that it had hiking trails. When we got there, we learned it was (also?) a Nature Conservancy property. After scoping out the longer, steeper trail leading away from Knight Park near Oregon's Salmon River, we located the unnamed road that led to the shorter trail, which went up into an apparently thriving young rain forest of alder, sitka spruce, and hemlock before delivering us to a meadowed mountaintop overlooking a far-reaching Salmon River wetland.
