Bishop's Castle

Using locally-sourced rocks and red sand, Jim Bishop spent a lifetime building an elaborately fanciful castle southwest of
Pueblo, Colorado for San Isabel National Forest passers-by to enjoy...if they dare. There are signs about too, with details
about the grim accusations he has faced down in courts and answering a few of the questions that have arisen as he worked.
We saw traces of visits--possibly celebrations--by others before us. We climbed into and to the tops of the edifice
to enjoy the glass-topped great room, stained-glass windows, and spiral-staircased towers.

Note, 21 November 2024: Jim Bishop died today; a service is advertised to occur in Pueblo, Colorado on 6 December 2024.
