Most of them drifted to the pond at the edge of the park and touched down briefly on the water before continuing their flight.
We couldn't hear much of what the announcer was babbling about, but I did catch a little about the rider whose balloon,
smaller than many, could support only a single seat rather than the more usual wicker basket holding several adults;
we watched in awe as his legs dangled above us and he floated up and away. One team near me was in full swing
toward their launch, and the next moment, they were folding up their balloon and repacking it. I never heard the reason, but felt the letdown.
