A statue of Silvius Brabo, a folklore character who is throwing the
hand he had cut off from a giant that had demanded an excessive
toll from those who crossed the nearby Scheldt river.

The Antwerp city hall stands in the background. Built in 1655, the
building flies the flags of the EU nations and those that have
a consulate in Antwerp.
