Kinderdijk (1)

Kinderdijk had historical problems with water flooding the land.
In the 13th century, the town decided to dig canals to drain the
water. Unfortunately, the sandy soil allows water to seep back in.
The problem continued for several hundred years until windmills
were built that provided the lift to remove the water.
