Saigon was renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the communist takeover of South
Vietnam in 1975 but the old name remains in common usage within Vietnam.
Saigon is a modern city that retains its ancient roots and customs. It is
also hot - the average high temperature is about 90F and only varies about
6F during the entire year.
We take the usual city tour stopping first at the Reunification Palace,
the home of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War until
the North Vietnam forces captured Saigon.
