Boiling Mud Pools at Hverarönd

Iceland

We continue by bus to the volcanic area near Lake Mývatn known for its
huge midge (gnat) and mosquito population; luckily we are early in the
season and have no problem.

These pools of boiling mud reflect the intense geothermal activity in
Iceland that provides both heating and power as well as forces that
tear this nation apart.
