Cars are common in Paro and Thimpu featuring several Japanese brands and
the Mahindra brand from India. Many vehicles run on diesel. Taxis and buses
provide transportation within and between cities. Cars are far less common
in the rural areas where walking is the primary mode of transportation.
We had a van malfunction in the interior of Bhutan resulting from locally
obtained fuel being cut with kerosene, a not too uncommon problem.
Luckily, a replacement van was not too far away.
