The only airport in Bhutan is in Paro: population 4500, elevation 7525'.
Paro is a historic town with many sacred sites and historical buildings
scattered through the area.
A large sign displays photographs of the five kings of modern Bhutan history.
The lineage of the kings is both honored and truly loved by their people
and many Bhutanese resisted the move to democracy having been totally
satisfied with the monarchy.
