It was time to get a newer set of wheels!
The price of gas in Canada varies between $5-$6/gallon (once converted to the USA), or between $1.25 and $1.40 CAD/liter (5 liters/gallon)- (depending on wars in the Middle-East or what Trump happens to say on any given day!), so great millage is a priority. This little thing gets between 25-28 miles/gallon in the city and between 35-40 miles/gallon on the highway.
PS: 60% of the cost of gas here is actually taxes, federal, provincial and a couple more to give subventions to the public transport (buses etc.) so that riders pay less for their bus tickets, another is called carbon tax (to fight pollution, so they say!) etc. So when the price of gas goes up, no government has any incentive to keep it low since the more it cost, the more taxes they collect! So in the end out of $1.00, 60+ cents are taxes!
PS: 2022, it's $2.00/liter (5 liters to the gallon)
