Koh Samui, Thailand

Argiope spider

A very small spider in a small web. Guess the spider is only a couple of mm 'large'.
The shape of the stabilimentum changes with the age of the spider. First it starts with a circular
white web in the center. Later it changes to a cross and when the spider is full-grown only a small
zig-zag remains.

Excellent! It's very, very close to one's here which we call writing spiders due to the zig-zag webs they spin. I guess they're using it to camouflage themselves. Nice find, and good shot!
