Lakandula at the 38th Rubithon

Rubithon is a Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA) hosted event held in June 24-28, 2026 at the historic and scenic Rubicon Trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, considered one of the most challenging if not most difficult trails in California.

It's an annual off-road gathering of Toyota 4x4 vehicles at the Rubicon Springs as the event center where different organized runs converged both coming from the Loon Lake Trail Head and Tahoma Staging Area.

This year's 38th Rubithon is dedicated to the cause of HUGAROC Foundation who's aim is to support cancer victims. This charitable endeavor makes this year's Rubithon a relevant and meaningfull event.

These are my sample photo snaps capturing the spirit of Rubithon and Lakadula's adventure. For sure, the drivers (both first timers and Rubicon veterans) and their families had an unforgettable and fun adventure navigating the Rubicon. These built and modified Toyota 4x4's from FJ40's to the latest Land Cruiser, from Lexus to Toyota trucks, tackled the most challenging hurdles in the trail. There were only 3 FJ Cruisers I saw and 2 others which are highly modified.

This is my 5th Rubithon event and 6th times in running the Rubicon trail with my 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Team (Ultimate Edition) I named Lakandula. Luckily enough, I drove out Mile 11.5 unscathed. I miss my daughter Hannah though this year who's been with me since day 1. She's my trusted co-pilot and trail spotter every time I encounter a difficult line. She cooks our meal too when in camp.

In this year's Rubithon, I joined the Cruiser Run 2 led by Scott White. On our way out the springs, Cruiser Run 2 joined Cruiser Run 1 headed by Ethan Miller and we had that obligatory group photo at the Cadillac Hill.

It feels great to run and meet again with friends since 2020 and share a common experience of adrenaline-full adventure and camaraderie.
