Shot in my backyard. Front-lit under natural light.
After a couple of test shots, I felt the images were coming out far too flat looking.
I wanted to emphasize the rich color and heart of the flowers so I carefully placed one of my studio modeling lights under/behind the flowers
and adjusted its intensity until I achieved what I was looking for.
I had to work kind of quick and in short bursts since my studio light was making the flower stem start to smoke :)
(Minor adjustments in Photoshop CS3 to correct small leaf blemishes and to heighten saturation & contrast.)
