The blankness stares back
Returning my emptiness
As I punctuate the surface of night
With a dribble of unseen tears
Moistening my faceless pain.
As these exhausted lips
Murmur a swish of sighs,
And the lids of the late hour
Close quietly over
My glistening eyes.
