This image show the laundry lines in back of our barracks at the San Diego NTC, in 1959. Special knots were used to keep the clothes on the lines.

I think that all of these barracks were torn down a few years ago.

Name of the knot is a square knot , a knot that is similar is a granny knot ,if you made the mistake of tying a granny instead of the square you would find your items on the ground.
