Navy Pilot 1959, My first aerial photography traning flight.

Florida

This image shows a LCDR at the controls of a Beech 18, in the late fall of 1959 (Navy SNB) The old twin Beech's were built around 1938, but were still workhorses, and used to train both navy pilots, and for photo flights. We set in the open cabin door and made aerial photographs, with our feet hanging out in the slipstream. (The door was removed before the flight)

This photo was made at NAAS Whiting Field, Milton FL.

Nikon S-2 rangefinder, 50mm lens.

other sizes: small medium original auto

NAVY I worked on the flight line in 1960. Initionally it was VT-2 and METG on North field. I won a contest for designing the shoulder shoulder patch when METG changed to VT-6. This was a long time ago but I often think about those good old days.
