WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument - Pearl Harbor

In two waves of terror lasting two long hours, a surprise attack by Japanese Naval Forces killed or wounded over 3,500 Americans
and sank or badly damaged 18 ships - including all 8 battleships of the Pacific Fleet - and over 350 destroyed or damaged aircraft.
At least 1,177 lives were lost when the Battleship USS Arizona exploded and subsequently sank.
The USS Arizona Memorial is built over the remains of the sunken battleship USS Arizona, the final resting place for
many of the 1,177 crewmen killed on December 7, 1941 when their ship was bombed.
This loss of life represents over half of the Americans killed during the worst naval disaster in American history.

A beautiful gallery of a tragic time in history. My father was a bomber pilot in WWII so whenever I see images like this I stop and view them. Many great captures and a wonderful photo tour. Voted
