PACIFIC WAR MEMORIAL - Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii

The Pacific War Memorial is located on Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
The Flag raising atop Mt. Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima is the most recognized symbol of WWII in the Pacific. This memorial depicts a moment in time – the flag raising atop Mt. Suribachi on February 23, 1945. Even though it took place in the Pacific, these men trained to take Mt. Suribachi in Hawaii. There is no site which entirely tells their story. However the Pacific War Memorial, based on Joe Rosenthal’s immortalizing photograph symbolizes the heroes of WWII and pays tribute to all that was sacrificed for our country.
