Scott Dunham and Al Racine hosted the annual Royal River Fiddlehead Hunt Paddle and Picnic trip on Saturday May 17th. Nine MOACers attended and were rewarded with a beautiful paddle and a bounty of fiddleheads. The day started out cool and overcast, but quickly tuned into a fabulous warm and sunny day. As seen in the trip photos, the water level was adequate, but a couple of log jams were encountered. Al, was well prepared with a bow saw and the guys were able to break us through one of the jams. The second had to be portaged, which provided MOACers with an opportunity to collect more fiddleheads and bask in the sun. The trip ended with a picnic lunch complete with fresh boiled fiddleheads slathered in butter and vinegar.
