She will soon be looking for a quiet area to have her calf. They will remain separated from the group until her baby is strong enough. Coyotes and mountain lions will be looking for the young as they are at the top of the food chain in this area. If the calf elk is lucky he or she will grow to be a viable member of the 3500 elk who live within Rocky Mountain National Park.
