The Further Adventures of Nick Danger, (Firesign Theatre/The Firesign Theatre/firesign theatre)
wonderful and somehow still not dated parody of thirties detective shows, i.e.:

Los Angelees...He walks again by night... Out of the fog (foghorn in the distance)into the smog (cough, cough)
Relentlessly... ruthlessly ("I wonder where Ruth is...")...
Doggedly ("ruff, ruff" "Hey.. get away from me...")...
Toward his weekly meeting with... the UN-KNOWN!

At fourth and Drucker he turns left... At Drucker and fourth he turns right... He crosses MacArthur Park ...and walks into a great sandstone building... (slap)

"Oof, my nose. "

Groping for the door, he steps inside, climbs the thriteen steps to his office (sound of phone ringing). He walks in. He's ready for mystery, he's ready for excitement, he's ready for anything, he's...

(ringing phone) "Nick Danger, Third Eye."
"I want to order a pizza to go and no anchovies."
"No anchovies? You've got the wrong man. I spell my name Danger.(click of the phone abruptly hung up)"
"What?"

It's not only a terrific shot with great treatment - but a nifty little story as well! What more could we ask for!!

Terrific shot, Mark. I'd forgotten about the Firesign Theater and Nick Danger. Speaking of parodies of film-noir detectives, we recently dragged out Carl Reiner's film "Fatal Instinct." It's a send-up of the old detective movies, along with "Fatal Attraction" and a few others thrown in. Definitely low-brow humor, but brilliantly done. Another "classic" in that vein is Neil Simon's "The Cheap Detective," with Peter Falk doing his impersonation of Bogart. It's a send-up of "The Maltese Falcon" and "Casablanca," set in the Bay Area. Wonderful stuff.

Love the Firesign track! Nice tones on the portrait, too.

This is a wonderful image, Mark. Great light and shadows playing tag with each other. My favorite portraits often are B&W. This is as good as it gets. GMV
