Goat Island is a pancake shaped lava rock a few yards off the coast of the Malaikahana Recreation Area.
The center of the island is a restricted refuge area for ground-dwelling birds raising their young.
The waters surrounding the island are great for snorkeling. There are tide pools, perfect for observing small sea life, and a sandy beach studded with coral formation and shallow water.
