Over the last year, the cliff face behind this apartment building moved 39 feet closer to the building - it is now only 6 feet from the structure and much of the erosion has occurred over the last 30 days. The building was evacuated at 5:30 AM today and extraordinary action is being taken to save the buildings.

Best of luck to my friends in Pacifica.

I don't think rip-rap will do the job over the long term.

I wonder if the insurance has been covering them for the last few years?

I saw this on the news - very scary stuff.

Great POV that includes the sign.

That sign says it all. Good image with comment!

Dramatic pic and very sad for the people who live there.

Not the way you want to spend Christmas.

This has happened more times than we can count probably. Personally I prefer not to see people build so close to the ocean and leave it open for the public to visit. They have tried to do that here in Oregon

Saw this on the news. So sad for these people and what an awful time of year to be uprooted. You sure captured the danger. Linda S

I think they've left this a bit late :-(
Guest 19-Dec-2009 07:49
Yep Mark, we have a couple like that here ready and waiting to fall into the sea. Very sad.

This is definitely not a good place to be, or to build a house.

Oh wow, you got to see it. It was all over the news today. Even if they stabilize the cliff now it's only a matter of time..................
