Lichtopstand Strijensas

Strijensas, The Netherlands

This light structure dates back to 1883, and was probably build from Q. Harder's design. It was build by the Pen en Bauduin Iron Foundry in Dordrecht. The stone building, for fuel storage, was added later.

Two other light structures in Stavoren and Den Oever look very similar to this one. They are probably build from the same design, although this structure is a bit taller. The light was extinguished in 1996. The village of Strijen bought the structure in 1998. In the same year it received official monument status. The structure was completely restored in 2006.
