Songpan is a small town in Northern Sichuan, at the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, and is well worth a visit. The population is a mixture of Han, Hui and Tibetans, and the centre of town still has the ancient city walls in place. A number of companies organize horse treks in the surrounding hills and these are a great way to see the scenery and small villages. These can be taken in winter, but by November it is getting cold and you will need a warm jacket. |
