"Where nothing is taboo." Every year in Gothenburg, college students throw a parade, with marching bands, beauty queens and kings, wild costumes, home made vehicles of all sorts, and best of all, irreverent floats that poke fun at everyone and everything. National and international political figures, tax authorities, multinational corporations, environmental polluters, media outlets, sexists of all stripes, the tram service -- you name it. Old and young alike stand in the evening chill for hours, to cheer participants on in a sweet and humorous display of untrammeled freedom and community spirit. In Sweden, the right to say what you think is protected -- and celebrated!
