GALLERY:: Rockscape Study - Valley of Fire, Nevada - 2008

On my third visit to the wonderful Valley of Fire State Park, I concentrated for a while on an astounding field of eroded rock. In these close-ups I see landscapes. It as if the small echos the large. If you look closely at the first image in the gallery you will see some weeds and grasses. These will, hopefully, provide some sense of scale. Scale is clearly missing from the rest of the images to provide the landscape aspect of the "rockscapes." Also missing are names - this is to allow the viewers imagination to play.
I might add that this is the first set of images that I have processed using George DeWolf's new Photoshop plug-in "PerceptTool." It is astounding.

What a feast for the eyes! Astonishingly beautiful

These images are not only brilliantly done, they can trick the eye into seeing whatever it may want to see. I missed the weeds in the first shot, so saw imagined these images as made from great heights. You could have made these from a balloon, at least right up until the the wonderful climax of the gallery. I don't know what PerceptTool does for you that your own eye can't do -- but the processing is masterful, the colors richly defined and beautifully presented.
