Very strong expression of powerless...

Your portrait shows real loneliness, something that doesn't seem possible in such a crowded environment such as Saigon. Yet, I know one can be very lonely even amidst a crowd. The empty wall behind him is almost a non-color, one which says "nothingness" to me. I feel for this poor boy. Your image makes us feel emotion. Bravo, Tim!

This image is simple and yet very powerful. It tells a universal story of those who have been forgotten and who are alone. Your composition, the bleakness of the setting, and the sorrowful body language of the man combine to create a very poignant and very moving image. Very well done, Tim.

A true feeling of desperation and emptiness. The body language is almost fetal - surrendering. Great image, Tim.

Wow, is my first words and then nothing. This is a moving image, evoking emotions such as isolation, almost a feeling of giving up. This is excellent!

Poignantly captured. The image itself is simply framed, yet the subject speaks interpretive volumes of complex depth. Bravo.

All too many photographs of the homeless try to evoke sympathy by showing a person sitting on a street, surrounded by self-absorbed passers-by. You go well beyond that cliche here by isolating this person, evoking a sense of what it must feel like to be forgotten and ignored. The body language, coupled with the desolation of the scarred wall, debris-laden sidewalk, and that skimpy yellow plastic bag, speaks eloquently to us. You also make us wonder what has brought him to this place, and what might be in that bag at his feet.
