As I stated in my gallery introduction, one of the strongest messages I learned from the Pilgrimage was that we are all Americans and our country needs to preserve the rights of all its citizens.
Despite our transgressions and misdeeds, people still identify with America and wrap themselves around the ideals inspired by the flag.....a very poignant statement given the setting.
And well abstracted, too. It reminds in a way of the American Indian paintings by Fritz Scholder.

Yes, everyone connected with this event, no matter their ethnic origins, are Americans. The flag as umbrells suggests protections currently provided by the national government, whle the dress below it represents someone from an Asian background. Well stated.
