The Interpretive Center at the Monument has a dramatic listing of names. Relatives of the Internees check to list for names of their ancestors.

My first Manzanar gallery has my original working of this concept (

) and as you can tell it is a theme I come back to. I think you are right Vanita - the person adds a human values element. My previous visits to Manzanar have been with other photographers. They too have interpreted this wall of names. Here are links to their images: Phil Douglis (

A powerful image. The silloutte gives life and emotion and the exit sign adds another layer of meaning.
