Traveling Through Time Death Valley, California February 2007
As I said in the introduction to this gallery, Death Valley is hard on all that exists in it. This is a view of an old fire truck which sits at Stovepipe Wells. This image gives me the feeling of the history of humans in Death Valley.
I love this interpretation of the old fire engine. You zoom in on the one part of the hood that is out of alingment to stress the toll that time has taken on this vehicle. You humanize it in the process. I chose to humanize it by stressing the "nose" effect of the ornament athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/75089918 . Once again, the differences between your images and my own bear out the fact that its not WHAT we shoot that makes the difference in our pictures. It is HOW and WHY we shoot it that defines both our own styles and the stories we choose to tell.
