Death Valley was heavily mined. This is a part of a tank at the Borax mine. Morning light can certainly make the ordinary extraordinary.

Ah, the famous spikes you've all spoken of. I like the shadow play in this.

Another fascinating twist: you use a horizontal frame and a tight crop, while I use a vertical frame and a looser crop on the same subject at the same time (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/75090599 ) -- in a complete reversal of our normal styles. You also interpret the rust differently than I did. Yet each of our interpretations achieve a similar end: they use abstraction, light, and shadow to define the strength and endurance of this tank
