Hope for Peace
Manzanar Historical Monument, California, October 2006

Paper cranes have become a symbol of the hope for peace. There were many collections of them in the cemetery.

Another irony -- cranes of peace on the grave of a Japanese-American who had committed no crime yet was banished to this dreadful place by the US government, and died here. In far away Japan, there are also cranes of peace hanging on a monument to the thousands of innocent Japanese children who were incinerated by an atomic bomb dropped by that same government:http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/58758236
