Phil - Thanks for the return visit - I should have added a caption to create more context - sorry. I must admit though that I do like the fact that both you and Carol created a meaning and interpretation from your understanding - reinforcing the idea that the viewer is as much a part of the image as the image maker.
Now I see it -- the blurred lights on the roller coaster itself silhouetted against the hotel. Now that you have changed context for me, I see this image as symbolizing the ups and downs of a gambler's life. Behind everyone of those windows is someone who will probably feel as if they, too, are on the roller coaster.
Even the construction site looks like a stage set. Las Vegas is built on fantasy and lust and greed. Each of these windows is intended to house a gambler, and there are obviously more coming.
