The mountains in the distance, for me at least, keep me from feeling totally isolated. There just may be something or someone across there. The foreground image is desolate, but there is hope for some civilization in the distance. Wonderful, thoughtful image, Tim, with a knockout title to go with it. I love shots that make me feel something and this one certainly makes me feel...almost LOST.

What a wonderful image Tim and perfect choice of title. The Mountains just far enough away that you can feel that you have time to turn back, close enough to know that if you chose to cross them, you may meet a different fate. You hide just enough of these mountains to make their challenge abstracted. I can imagine the in take of breath as you are faced with their true magnitude, and feel the cold from here.

I remember shivering standing next to you at this spot, the raw, cold wind biting at us off those snow capped peaks. Foreboding it was, and foreboding it is. Cold, empty, desolate, and lost.
