By isolating this one figure, your interpretation of this dramatic sculpture speaks to me of hope and survival. Unseen, but in the background, is Ellis Island, where many survived the harsh seas and reached out to a new land.

All my years living in NY I have never seen this sculpture! It is indeed effective placing it in the water as it is. Nicely seen, Tim!
