I totally agree with Phil's observation. He said it all; he said it beautifully .....there's nothing I can add.

Ironic framing that makes a huge statement -- the sole Jewish grave marker offers an incongruous focal point here. The context makes it even more incongruous: these are American dead, mostly Christian, buried in a Muslim country, with a lone Jewish grave in their midst. The men and women who died here in North Africa, were fighting a war against Germany, a government that systematically murdered six million people simply because they happened to be Jewish. Today, hatred between Muslim and Jews still dominate this part of the world, while this image speaks to a larger truth. All of these soldiers gave their lives for an idea that transcends racial and religious bigotry.
